CDA 2009 Convention FAQs

How do I sign up for housing?

Once you have registered, please indicate that you would like to secure housing with us and we will contact you once housing becomes available. Plan on spending about $50/night, which we are currently working on to bring down the cost a little more.

Where will students stay?

There will be housing options at George Washington University. We will have them posted in the next few weeks.

When should I arrive to DC?

Convention will officially gavel in on Thursday, July 23rd with events throughout the day on Thursday. Attendees are encouraged to arrive Thursday morning or Wednesday evening. Convention will conclude early Sunday afternoon July 26th so attendees can make arrangements to return home. Any persons who are state federation presidents or newly elected national officers are encouraged to stay for a Sunday meeting that will conclude no later than 5pm.

  What happens at CDA convention?

Students from across the United States gather every year to learn, network, and expand their knowledge of campaigns. As a participant you will meet students with all levels of campaign experience, hear from experts in the administration and the DNC, and have an opportunity to see sights in DC. Logistically, the CDA convention will span 3 1/2 days with meetings, trainings, lectures, and social events. It is a great time you won't want to miss.

Will there be parking at GWU?

Yes, there is a parking lot on 22nd and H Street NW, which is right by the Marvin Center where our activities will take place. There is no free parking so you will have to pay to park there.

How do I get around DC?

You can use the DC METRO system. The website is www.wmata.com. We will have more information in the weeks to come regarding registration.

How do I apply for money from my school?

We will send out an email with ways to raise money for convention and it will also be posted online.

What should I bring to convention?

2-3 business or business casual outfits, casual wear for the baseball game, and something dressy for our fundraiser. You will also want to bring your camera, student ID, sunglasses and sunscreen (it gets very hot in July in DC), and a positive attitude!
