WHAT IF THIS IS TRUE? THE WORLD CANNOT FEED ITS POPULATION!
REFLECTIONS:

What if it were true that the world cannot feed its population? History shows this is not a problem unique to today. But if true and its world wide the stakes are much higher. What if Globalization is followed by a return to Economic Localization? What if it is true that throughout human history food collection was a primary societal organizational objective? Well, we cannot feed our world population much less the new number 10 years from now. Globalization as an organizing economic theory will collapse when populations are starving. We want to eat before we" text message". Our economic organizing principals, in emergening localization, will change but really only return that tried and true paradigm... we will to anything to survive. We must eat to survive. This paradigm shift has already begun world wide and in America. We are running out of time to avoid famine.

I looked to what is happening now in the world , The Sudan ,to understand what may happen to America in 10 years. My thoughts , observations and question, follow:

1. THE RICH WILL RAID THE LAND RESOURCES OF THE POOR, PEOPLE AND COUNTRIES.

2.WHY DO WE HAVE A CRISIS? IT BASED ON ECONOMIC EXPLOITATION OVER PEOPLES LIVES?

3.BIG MONEY WILL GRAVITATE TO BIG FARMING

4.BIG MONEY WILL FEED THE WORLD MARKET AND LET THE HOST COUNTRY STARVE.

5. WE MUST CAUSE A MASSIVE INCREASE IN FOOD PRODUCTION.

6.LIKE THE INHABITANTS OF A RESORT ISLAND WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ALL THE FOOD HAS TO BE IMPORTED?WE BECOME ECONOMICLY VULNERABLE.

7.THERE IS A FUTURE IN AGRIBUSINESS FOR THE NEW GRADUATES

8.WE FEED THEIR POOR ,THERE RICH FEED THE WORLD.

9.CORPORATIONS BECOME IMMORAL... HEARD THAT BEFORE REGIMES BECOME PARASITIC AGAINST THEIR OWN PEOPLE.

10.STARVATION BECOMES PART OF PLANNED GENOCIDE, JUST TOO MANY OF ....THEM.

11.HOW MANY CHILDREN WILL DIE, GREAT NATIONS STAY SILENT BREADBASKET OR PROFIT CENTERS...

12.WHAT IS THE FUTURE OF FARMING?

13.THE HUNGRY AT ONE TIME ATE THEIR BELTS AND SHOES NOW THEY EAT MUD IN HAITI.

14.GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS WILL DENY THEIR PLUNDERING.

15.THE GOOD, ( AMERICANS STAND SILENT), THE BAD (SUDANES CREATE A NEW FOOD HOLOCAUST),THE UGLY WORLD ( CHILDREN STARVE AS THE WORLD WRENCHES ITS HANDS).

16.THE SUDANESE ARE NOT THE ONLY POOR BEING PLUNDERED.

17.TIME OUTS, ALLOWANCE TAKEN AWAY OR WILL THEY BE GROUNDED, JUST WHAT WILL THESE SANCTIONS BE?

18.BAD POLICY, BAD RESULTS

19.WE WANT TO SELL THEM OUR STUFF RATHER THAN GIVEN THEM AN EQUIVALENT AMOUNT OF MONEY TO BUY FROM THEIR OWN FARMERS AND GROW THEIR OWN PRODUCTION CAPABILITIES.

20.SUDANESE OFFICIALS GET MONEY ,ARABS GET FOOD, OIL MONEY AT WORK.

21.WE ARE MANY AND THEY ARE FEW, BUT WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN WE ARE FEW AND THEY ARE MANY?

One problem -
By WOMAN Aug 10th 2008 at 1:05 pm EDT (Updated Aug 10th 2008 at 1:05 pm EDT)
We've always known that the world population cannot feed itself at the growth rate it has held for 100 years. Why do you think China has the "one child" rule?

Mother Nature usually balances this out with a plague or huge natural disaster.

As sad as this is to say, the problem is that while we have seen a few natural disasters killing 100,000+ people, we have not had a plague.

Scientists say we're overdue for a big plague. That would balance out the population growth.

The answers are there.

The ability to feed the world exists right now. Technologies exist to produce more food at any given time. The have and the have nots are not separated by logistical failures. The problem is that producing food is not profitable if the supply is greater than the demand. View it any way you want, but this is a result of capitalism. Birth to death rates have been steadily decreasing worldwide since the 1960's.

thank you Mikey.

and yes the solutions are here right now and they always have been

and it is as usual the matter of the greed of a few getting in the way.

the majority of us will have to address this issue soon.

US/Canada

We produce far more food than we need. Heck - we still pay farmers not to grow food. The US isn't going to need to seize anyone's land.

As far as our security is concerned, we are actually rather safe. What threatens us (as far as food wars go) threatens Canada, so we share common defense concerns, and we only need to defend the southern border (oceans make very good defense barriers). That we could do trivially against anyone in the foreseeable future.

another good and true point. thanks for sharing

THERE IS ENOUGH RIGHT NOW

UNIVERSAL SCARCITY* IS A LIE. Scarcity tactics are one of the ways that those in control create and attribute false monetary values to commodities. smoke and mirrors

(* This is not the same as saying that many things are not finite. Of course they are, but that is not the point. For example, while is it true that fossil fuels are finite and we have peaked in terms of oil consumption, there are still plenty of other solutions available for energy.)

Well, it's not really false monetary value for a commodity. It's a false supply. It's not quite like DeBeers: diamonds are nowhere near as scarce as their price would seem to indicate, but the stuff already exists. The food just isn't produced.

In addition, there's another factor that contributes to this not being entirely smoke and mirrors. If food is produced in such volume that it becomes cheaper than it costs to produce, farms will go out of business and too little food will be produced. That's not a good thing.

We have got to wake up
By shogun-whos the baddest? Aug 10th 2008 at 1:19 pm EDT (Updated Aug 10th 2008 at 1:19 pm EDT)
It's not all gloom and doom people. Don't spread fear spread results. Correction: there is enough food to feed everybody. We just dont have means of transporting it all before it rots to other countries. The truth is there are major discoveries being made that will forever change how we eat. Remember, it is always darkest before dawn. Smile, in 30 years you wont recognize this world. Nobody will. We are entering a new age even faster now than ever because the demand is rising so high. There will be much cost, many will sacrifice, but it will require a whole new attitude towards farming, fuel, and money that will propel us into a new age. The truth is the world is chaotic, and no matter how much money one has to control a people they still require a people to control. We will never go away, without us they cant exist.

In the meantime, however, unless a goodly number of us wake up and stay awake, the few will continue to control us with their fear mongering gloom and doom.

a warning such as this post by terry may be in order. we the people of the world do need to seize control and I think it is happening.

and I agree that a little fear mongering goes a long way. :)
