We can all agree on this: Patrick Leahy needs our help on FISA!

OK, taking a moment to get out of the 2008 Primary Swamp to let everyone know that Patrick Leahy needs our help to preserve American Values in the new FISA law.
Tuesday, February 12 is a critical day in our fight to stand up for American values and preserve our freedoms while protecting our national security. The Senate is voting on amendments to FISA, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, the law governing the use of wiretaps and other means to conduct surveillance of foreign threats.

Unfortunately, the new FISA bill we'll be voting on still has many problems. I will do everything in my power -- including joining my colleague Chris Dodd in a filibuster against this legislation -- to fix it.

Please tell Congress that any new FISA bill must both protect our national security and preserve our civil liberties!
Please take a moment to click this link and tell your lawmakers to preserve our American Values!

Thank you for your time,
D. Tree

Thanks for the heads up.
I wrote, again.
here it is for anybody who needs it......

I strongly support Sen. Patrick Leahy's efforts to improve the new FISA bill.
Please do not grant blanket immunity to telecomm companies that participated in the President's spying program.
Our forefathers would never have approved of spying on the citizens of this country. I hope you will do the right thing and remember that your ancestors are watching.
I would gladly give up my life to terrorists before I will willingly give away the rights and freedoms my ancestors fought and died for.
I'm sure you will do the right thing.
Peace to you,

I used the letter from the link

to write my congressperson and senators. I assume the letter automatically goes to the lawmakers based on my zip code. It was a little unclear. But thanks for the link, if I did it wrong I will correct it.
It's important to work on issues other than the presedential contest on PartyBuilder.

nope, you got it right - the link automatically sends your message to your local reps based on the zip code you give... you will probably receive a reply from your local officials.

the FISA fight is far from over...even though the media hasn't talked about it lately.

i agree the fight is far from over - we need to set a precedent now to prevent future abuses, because as our technology increases there will be more people who want to take advantage of the system for who-knows-what ends.

occasional phone call to my senators once a week or so; but I always get the same crap where they act like I know nothing about the bill and tell me how thankful they are that I am contacting them. They both consistently vote against freedom and against the poor and middle class. (I'm talking about Jim Bunning and Mitch McConnell.)

It seems to be a complete waste of time; but who knows? Perhaps they'll have a sudden attack of integrity some day.

don't lose heart - even though you may be only one voice among many, the more of us who speak up the bigger that "many" becomes.

eventually they will listen or be voted out.
