My suggestion to everyone.....

Make a copy of your post before you post it, so you have it, and so that others can see that there was no real reason to delete it, when you repost it.

Save yourself the trouble of rewriting it, just repost it.

There was nothing wrong with her terminology if that's really the way she feels.

This has to stop, but we all have to work together to make it stop.

Education, education, education. Learn how to deal with adversity, controversy and objectivity, or all that will be left is monotony.

Let's allow real people with real opinions in the real world, it's better than filtered opinions in a sheltered world. Let's work together to be diplomatic.

We simply cannot continue to be this thick headed as to completely lose the ability to reason with those that differ in perspective. As you must know I am not referring to obvious slander posts, and hers was not one, hers was a legitimate concern, she treated rudely, and dismissed with censorship.

This cannot be how democrats have discourse.

Over 60 dead, 100 Injured by Taliban in Pakistani Blast

Taliban Claims Responsibility for Pakistan Blasts
Attacks on Army Munitions Factory Leave at Least 60 Dead, 100 Injured

WAH, Pakistan, Aug. 21 -- At least 60 people were killed and 100 injured in coordinated suicide bombings on the country's largest army munitions factory here Thursday, the latest in a series of Taliban attacks against Pakistani government targets.

The Pakistani branch of the Taliban quickly asserted responsibility for the attack at the heavily guarded facility.

The first blast occurred about 2:30 p.m. when two suicide bombers walked up to the main gate of the Pakistan Ordnance Factory and detonated vests loaded with explosives. A second explosion ripped through another gate minutes later when a third suicide bomber approached on foot, witnesses said.

Nasir Durrani, regional police chief of the Rawalpindi police district, said most of those killed were civilians who worked in the factory. Durrani said the suicide bombers approached the gates during a shift change, then detonated their bombs amid the crowd.

Amir Shah said he heard two huge blasts and ran toward the main gate of the factory. When he arrived, he saw the bodies of the two suicide bombers, burned beyond recognition.

"The security situation here is very bad today," he said. "It is supposed to be a very highly protected area because of its sensitive nature, so I don't know what happened."

The blasts left heaps of debris and body parts near the gates of the factory, but the building was more or less unharmed. Police and army officials swarmed the area after the bombing, and several investigators searched the area with bomb-sniffing dogs after a vest laden with explosives was found near one of the gates.

Get it right

The holding facilty in Denver was put up by the Denver PD, will be staffed by the Denver PD and has nothing to do with the Democratic National Committee.

The DNC is not paying for it, not staffing it and has nothing to do with the sale after the Convention.

Come on...do you really think DNC staffers will be fingerprinting people and arresting them? Pleeeezzzz.

To imply it is DNC jail or holding facility is hogwash.

All by Denver PD for security.

Interesting Security Differences

LOL Sometimes I think the Democrats should take a few cues from the Republicans (but you didn't hear it from me).

CASE IN POINT: the recent indignant flap, drama and misstatements regarding "The DNC Jail". First of all there is no DNC Jail. Second of all the DNC is not in charge of security, as I understand it, the Denver police are. Thus I suppose they are open about it and the plans are rather public thus it makes it rather easy for the ACLU to create s fuss over some of the plans.

I went to the net to see what the Republicans were doing. Their security plans are all under wraps, classified, as national security and thus off limits to people like the ACLU. If any one does dare to ask, there won't be any information forthcoming. because "I'm sorry but that information is classified." LOL Same answer these creeps give our elected officials who try to supeona them.

The United States Department of Homeland Security has designated the convention a National Special Security Event, which means the United States Secret Service (U.S.S.S.) leads security planning. Convention staff is working closely with the U.S.S.S. and law enforcement personnel from all levels of government to ensure a safe and successful event. Every effort is also being made to keep local merchants open for business and area traffic running smoothly.

"Too Tall" Ed Freeman dead at 80 - Tribute by Joe Galloway

For the better part of 60 years, two old Army pilots who loved each other argued over many a meal and drink as to which of them was the second best pilot in the world.

The two shared the cockpits of old Beaver prop planes and Huey helicopters; they shared rooms in military hooches all over the world; they shared a love of practical and impractical jokes and they shared an undying love of flying and soldiers and the Army.

They also shared membership in a very small and revered fraternity of fewer than 105 men who are entitled to wear around their necks the light blue ribbon and gold pointed star that is the Medal of Honor, America’s highest decoration for heroism above and beyond the call of duty.

Their story was told in a book my buddy Lt. Gen. Hal Moore and I wrote 15 years ago titled "We Were Soldiers Once . . . and Young" and in the Mel Gibson movie, "We Were Soldiers," released in the spring of 2002. Too Tall and Old Snake were ably portrayed in the movie.

Their argument over which of them is the Best Pilot in the Whole World sadly came to an end this week when our friend and comrade-in-arms Maj. Ed (Too Tall to Fly) Freeman slipped the surly bonds of earth and headed off to Fiddler’s Green, where the souls of departed cavalrymen gather by dispensation of God Himself.

US, Iraq have draft to pull US troops out

By MATTHEW LEE and QASSIM ABDUL-ZAHRA, Associated Press Writer 18 minutes ago

BAGHDAD - Iraq and the U.S. have reached preliminary agreement to withdraw American forces from Iraqi cities by next June, six years into the increasingly unpopular war, Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said Thursday after meeting with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

The negotiations over a withdrawal timetable follow long insistence by President Bush that setting any schedule for U.S. troops to leave would be dangerous. The draft agreement with Iraq would link troop reductions to achievement of certain security milestones, although the details have not been made public.

Time has become ever more important in discussions between U.S. and Iraqi officials with Bush heading into its final months and the presidential candidates tussling daily over how and when they would move to end the war.

Democrat Barack Obama has said he would begin pulling troops out immediately upon taking office and have all combat forces out within 16 months. Republican John McCain has said the situation in Iraq will dictate any pullout schedule, not a timetable set up without consideration of how the war is going.

Rice and Zebari, appearing together at a news conference, asserted that the proposed deal reflects growing confidence in the ability of Iraqi forces to secure the country. A final agreement would require endorsement of the proposed deal by top Iraqi leaders and the Iraqi parliament.

Zebari said the draft would be presented to top leaders, including Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. Some members of al-Maliki's Cabinet are known to oppose some aspects.

"What we have accomplished in this agreement is the most advanced version of any" such deal between the United States and other countries where U.S. forces are based, Zebari told reporters, "because the U.S. negotiators indeed showed a great deal of flexibility and understanding."

Veep Sheet: Obama meets Kaine’s staff

Alexander Burns, Mike Allen 43 minutes ago
Yahoo! News

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) met privately for 15 minutes Thursday morning at the Omni Richmond hotel with the staff of one of his top two or three prospects for running mate, Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine.

Margaret Talev of McClatchy Newspapers, the pool reporter from the Obama press corps, reports that she asked the governor whether Obama has asked him to be his running mate.

Awkward!

Kaine replied: "I'm going to let the campaign speak for the campaign." Talev reports that he also declined to comment when she asked if he would rule it out.

Talev asked him what he and Obama talked about. Kaine answered: "He visited with my staff just to basically say hi to them and thank them for all their hard work."

Obama also took a photo with Kaine's staff. A thank-you, or a getting-to-know-you?

Obama isn’t expected to make his announcement today. But Friday or early Saturday, the eagerly awaited text messages and e-mails will go to supporters ahead of the ticket’s dramatic appearance at the Old State Capitol in Springfield, Ill. on Saturday.

Update on the Banana Republic

The topic of the Colombia Free Trade Agreement is important. It is important for two reasons. First and foremost it is important because we need to stop giving our world away to multinational corporations everytime a conservative holds our his or her hand for another corporate welfare handout. Second of all I want the Democratic Party to move away from its watered down Republican facade of the past few years and return to the arms of Labor. We cannot have a Democratic Party without labor. And you can't have labor with the Colombian Free Trade Agreement. It's not going to happen.

Colombian businessmen as well as USA multinational corporations want the Colombia Free Trade Agreement passed in the worst way. They have really stepped up their efforts this year as it is Bush’s last year and he has sworn to do all he can to get it passed before he leaves office. They know if it has any hope at all of passing it is within the next few months.

President Alvaro Uribe is a right-wing leader of Colombia who has had ties to drug cartels in Colombia for years. As President, he has supported big business and American big business in particular. One of the ways in which he has done this is through the employment of right wing militias to kick small farmers off their land so that the Colombian aristocracy of which Uribe and much of their Parliment belong can then lease the land to large American agribusinesses such as Chiquita and Cargill.

Dems - Get Up Off Your Arse's!!!

Hello everyone. I am going to be absolutely blunt today. I am sick of Old Man McCain and the Grand Ole' Party's tricks. This is a political rant not on, "Where is the Maverick?", no, sorry, but not this time my 'friends'. This is a political rant on the "Grandfather of Politics", the man who wants each and everyone grandson and granddaughter to clean the walls with a toothbrush. That's right 'friends', as McCain always says. This is a rant on McCain and the fact that Barack Obama and the Democrats have to, right now, start getting angry.

McCain continues to argue that Obama is a celebrity and nothing more. Obama, get up off your arse and defend yourself. The American people, at least most of them, do not like people who lay back and take it. The American people like people who stand up for themselves and you have yet to do that in most respects. There are only so many times in which a man or woman can be verbally sucker punched before having to punch back.

I understand the methodologies you are playing with here. I completely understand them and in fact, I agree with them. However, according to the polls, these false and manipulative advertisements being run by "John McCain and the Repulsives" is working. John McCain is just as much a manipulative schmuck as our President and I will tell you this: these people will do anything to keep their power.

So, it is time to start playing hardball. We need too because the last thing we need in this country is a McCain presidency.

John McCain and Barack Obama agree to debate schedule, format

The John McCain and Barack Obama campaigns just announced they have agreed to a series of debates -- one of them a "town hall" -- already scheduled through the Commission on Presidential Debates. The news here seems to be that the two campaigns agreed to what the commission already has planned.

The agreement calls for three 90-minute presidential showdowns and one vice presidential (players to be named later) debate. The full list with details is below (all begin at 6 p.m. Pacific time). But what's most interesting to note is where the debates will be held -- none in the West.

In fact, only one, at Washington University in St. Louis, will be west of the Mississippi -- and that just barely. So much for the fight for the heart and soul of the Western voter. And expect the announcement to spur some complaints from fringe candidates Bob Barr, Ralph Nader and Cynthia McKinney, who must get 15% or better in national polls to wrangle an invite under rules established by the commission -- which, incidentally, was set up in 1987 by the Democratic and Republican parties.
