Last night, I co-hosted the second weekly Out for Obama happy hour in Seattle. We are setting up shop in various LGBT bars in Seattle, and last night was a huge success at PURR. City Councilperson Sally Clark was special guest and she gave a rousing speech that electrified the whole bar. We picked up 5 new voters for registration and scads of new volunteers. The LGBT community is a large voting block in Seattle, and we are winning back Hillary supporters, one vote at a time. The infamous "Log Cabin" Republicans are trying to make a comeback in Seattle, and last night really punctured some Republican balloons!

Next week, the happy hours move to Neighbours Bar and Grill. Onwards and upwards! A special shoutout to Cary Toland who is the co-host with the most- -his graphics for the LGBT Obama outreach efforts are awesome. And if Sally Clark ever runs for higher office--I'll be right there to support her the way she has supported my community.

THIS IS WHY I CHOOSE THE WONDERFUL, CLASSY MAN TO BE MY PRESIDENT.

MONROE, Michigan (CNN) â€" Barack Obama told reporters firmly that families are off-limits in this campaign, reacting to news that Sarah Palin’s 17-year-old daughter is five months pregnant

“Let me be as clear as possible,” said Obama, “I think people’s families are off-limits and people's children are especially off-limits This shouldn't be part of our politics It has no relevance to Gov Palin’s performance as governor, or her potential performance as a vice president”

Obama said reporters should “back off these kinds of stories” and noted that he was born to an 18 year-old mother

“How a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn't be the topic of our politics and I hope that anybody who is supporting me understands that’s off-limits”

The Illinois senator became aggravated when asked about rumors on liberal blogs speculating that Palin’s fifth child - Trig - is actually her daughter Bristol’s A Reuters report Monday quotes a senior McCain aide saying that Obama’s name is in some of posts, “in a way that certainly juxtaposes themselves against their 'campaign of change,’”

“I am offended by that statement,” Obama shot back, not letting the reporter finish his question “There is no evidence at all that any of this involved us”

“We don’t go after people’s families,” Obama said “We don’t get them involved in the politics It’s not appropriate and it’s not relevant Our people were not involved in any way in this and they will not be And if I ever thought that there was somebody in my campaign that was involved in something like that, they’d be fired”

The standard should be no different for industry. Ironically, we're trying to convince the rest of the nation to open ANWR, but we can't even get our own Pt. Thomson, which is right on the edge of ANWR, developed! We are ready for that gas to be tapped so we can fill a natural gas pipeline. I promise to vigorously defend Alaska's rights, as resource owners, to develop and receive appropriate value for our resources.

TADA THERE IT GOES on Aug. 27th approved TransCanada Corp., the nation's largest pipeline company, won approval from Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to build a $27 billion pipeline to carry natural gas from the Arctic to U.S. markets.
Palin on Aug. 27 signed a bill authorizing the state to award Calgary-based TransCanada a license to build the 1,715- mile (2,744-kilometer) link from Prudhoe Bay to the Alberta Hub in Canada, according to a statement. The license will be granted in 90 days. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601082&sid=acNe2vW46POk&refer=canada

From NBC's Mark Murray
Clinton spokeswoman Kathleen Strand issued this statement regarding the McCain TV ad, which includes quotes from Hillary whacking Obama during the primary season.

"Hillary Clinton's support of Barack Obama is clear. She has said repeatedly that Barack Obama and she share a commitment to changing the direction of the country, getting us out of Iraq, and expanding access to health care. John McCain doesn't. It's interesting how those remarks didn't make it into his ad."
Obama says he's decided on a running mate
By NEDRA PICKLER,
Associated Press Writer

CHICAGO - Barack Obama says he's decided on a running mate, but he won't say who. The Democratic presidential candidate told USA Today on Thursday that he went with someone who is independent and would challenge him in the White House. He also said he wanted someone who is prepared to be president and would help him strengthen the economy.

He wouldn't say whether he's informed his pick yet. He says he won't reveal anything else about the decision until he announces it.

Obama is planning to do so in a text message to supporters sometime before Saturday afternoon, when he's scheduled to appear with his pick in Illinois.
Asked by an Associated Press reporter when the text would be sent, Obama just grinned and said, "Wouldn't you like to know?"
There seems to be a few people that are on a mission to chase new members of THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY builder away by calling them various names. Just because a person is new to party builder and do not agree with "them" does not mean that they are a troll or any other name they call them.

In fact "these people" have called several of the good people that have been here for a very long time the same names. This is in no way helping to build our party. They are continuing to tear it down.

Please I ask again JUST STOP IT, why are you here if you hate the people here and the views of this party? The only possible answer could be that you are here to stir the pot and to bait people. What other reason would you have to come back after you have been banned?
How is all of this helping our party?? PLEASE tell me!!
I happen to love this party, I am a lifelong Democrat, I grew up in a Democratic family with the values that our party stands for. My father worked hard to give us a good life in a union job, something the Republicans are agianst. My husband is also part of a union, which Bush has tried to screw over and McCain will as well.

This is THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, work for it, work for Senator Obama we need him, we need our country back, we can not take another 4-8 years with a Republican in office, more over McCain whom can barely remember his own name. Work for the Democrats down the ticket, we need them, for the love of GOD HELP US!

Do you want this country to go down in flames? Do you want us to be at war for God knows how long? Do you want more people to loose their jobs and homes? Do you want children on the street begging for money for food? If you do vote for McCain BUT don't bring it here,,,,LOOK UP ... it says THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY !!

If the people that have been banned are soooo dead set on being here DO SOMETHING for the party!!! STOP JUST STOP making trouble and blaming everyone else for it..if it were anyone else causing the trouble they would have been banned not you!

Ben & Shopman are another story and I'm sure it will be cleared up, they are good Democrats. As for the rest of you DO SOMETHING or just leave us alone PLEASE.

Sometimes, I still feel disappointed about this election. Sometimes, I keep asking myself "Where's Hillary?" Sometimes, I become frightened at the thought of Democrats losing. Sometimes, I still wish I could see Hillary back on the campaign trail again.

Sometimes, I wonder what the hell I'm doing now. But you know what? I just can't keep looking back. I can't let Hillary down now.

I live in Orange County, CA. I'm used to seeing scary Republicans that care nothing about environmental justice. But of all the crazy Republicans here, none can be crazier than "Crazy Dana" Rohrabacher. He's consistently voted against the best interests of our people and our planet, and it's time we do something about this. That's why I'm so glad to see some good friends of ours take real action for real change.

Let's not forget about those other branches of government. Yes, who Barack Obama picks as his VP is an important decision. I mean, we can ask Dick Cheney about executive power.

But still, there are things we can do now to change Congress. Come on now. Let's not forget about that branch of government Barack Obama will need on his side to get the job done as President next year.

How many of you attended your local Platform for Change event(s)? I did... As well as a reporter from my own local paper and several dozen local Democrats. Oh yes, and so did one of our terrific local Democrats running for Congress.

But despite what you may think, there were no signs of "elitism" or "talking down". If anything, we were all contributing our thoughts and ideas to our final proposed platform that will be presented to the DNC. Want to take a look?
